Striated Tire Yaw Marks—Modeling and Validation

Tire yaw marks deposited on the road surface carry a lot of information paramount importance for analysis vehicle accidents. They can be used: (a) in macro-scale establishing vehicle’s positions and orientation as well an estimation speed at start yawing; (b) micro-scale inferring among others things braking or acceleration status wheels from topology striations forming mark. A mathematical model how will appear has been developed. The is universal, i.e., it applies to tire moving along any trajectory with variable curvature, takes into account forces torques which are calculated by solving system non-linear equations dynamics. It was validated program developed author, represented 36 degree freedom multi-body TMeasy model. mark-creating shows good compliance experimental data. gives deep view nature striated marks’ formation applied simulation dynamics level simplification.
